Hey there!

I'm Phil. I'm currently in my 3rd year at Reading university studying German and Management Studies. You wouldn't believe the strange looks I get of people when I say that. "Is it managing Germans?". That kind of response tells you why Britain has the fewest linguists in Europe after Hungary. At least that should mean there will be plenty of jobs available to me when I graduate but with the credit crunch, one never knows. I'm currently spending a year in Germany, teaching English to secondary school children.
Originally, I'm from Rainford, near St Helens in the north west. Down here, most people take all their time to register Liverpool and Manchester so we barely get past that. If you say Merseyside though, you get branded a Scouser immediately. Obviously this is just word association and they may still think that St Helens is near Newcastle ( somebody actually asked me that).
I'm a keen sports fan and I love my rugby league and football. I support the Widnes Vikings and Liverpool FC. I used to be a Widnes season ticket holder when I lived at home and I try and get to Anfield two or three times a year. My other hobbies include mountaineering, photography, swimming and working with the Boys' Brigade. My favourite bands and artists of the present moment are Elbow, The Killers, Bob Dylan,The Rolling Stones, Amy Macdonald and Coldplay to name but a few. I like most genres apart from metal, R'n'B and urban. I especially like indie and light to medium rock.Some folk and country inspired stuff is also good. I no longer see any of my old schoolfriends on a regular basis but I keep in regular contact with Tom, Leanne, Sam, Dave, Freya and Howard. I have an exchange friend in Konstanz, Germany called Rene. My best mates at Uni are Mike, Eddy and Teedah but I've met some wonderful people on the year abroad, who I'd like to keep in touch with.
